It is a long time ago i have been writing about wine, the fact is that there was not much to write about. I tried some here and there, but nothing really exciting. As a Sommelier or wine expert, you come across many countries, grape varieties, styles, colours and odours. But there comes a time where you think or wonder "Is there nothing new anymore?" One could get tired, especially in country like Sweden and their Systembolaget, the only place a private person is able to purchase alcohol above 3,5% ABV.
Think if there would be only one shoe shop you can buy shoes or one type of bar or club with always the same people, wouldn't that be boring? Like my wife said recently: "It is weird when you leave the store everybody knows you just bought alcohol". The same sortiment, even if they change it from time to time, still the same store, same environment, same sales people. No one you have a little chat with, the little extra to make it a experience to buy a bottle.
And if you want some change you need to go to restaurant or wine bar. If you go to one of these establishments you pay for a glas of house wine in average 8 Euros, despite from something "interesting" prices will go up between 10 to 12 Euro. One could really lose the interest, and money, for something beautiful and delicous like wine, which once was cleaner then water.

I found this one in my cellar, a Chardonnay reserve from the vineyard Siegrist. In our time their are many Chardonnays, this grape variety is very modern and is grown almost in all regions and wine countries in the world, the most notable ones come from France (Chablis) and America (Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley). However i have been trying good Chardonnays from Chile and Australia for example but not many from Germany. This one from Siegrist was unexpectedly delicous. It was light golden in colour with a good concentration. The aromas was clear and associated with melon and vanilla cigarillos. It was smooth in the mouth with velvet texture like silk with flavours of melon, honey suckle, ripe red mangos. But the interesting thing was the acidity kicking in the end to give a smooth fresh and very long finish.
I give this wine 8 out of 10. I can only recommend it, and had it with my barbecued meet and fish. there is only one problem again, it is not available on the swedish market
